Expressive Arts

A literature review published in the American Journal of Public Health, February 2010, states “Art helps people express experiences that are too difficult to put into words, such as a diagnosis of cancer. Some people with cancer explore the meanings of past, present, and future during art therapy, thereby integrating cancer into their life story and giving it meaning.”  It is for this reason that Expressive Arts classes and resources are available at Wellness Within.  To be able to reflect and express your story – through picture, word, dance or sound – is a powerful medium that is supported across many cultures and through decades of research. We invite you to explore these classes and resources – and develop your story – your way.

Register for classes on our Class Calendar, learn more by listening to our Podcast or reading our latest Blog, or subscribe to our YouTubeChannel to view the Wellness Within Studio On Demand videos at anytime.

Art Therapy Workshop

Therapeutic Art taught by an Art Therapist can help us heal the split between our body and mind. It is a an image-based process which is perfect for times when it is hard to put thoughts and feelings into words.

Life Stories Through Expressive Writing

Illness and trauma give us an opportunity to reflect and writing is a powerful tool to capture our experiences as well as share what we value. This class will provide participants with the structure and support to craft their legacy through facilitated writing sessions that will focus on life story and memoir.  No writing experience needed.

Special CLasses

Part of the healing process is being able to share your story and express yourself in many creative classes. In addition to regular art and writing classes, we periodically offer music during meditations sessions, drumming classes and other opportunities for creative expression.
